Summary

The world's leading undergraduate academic awards programme — submit your best coursework for international recognition.

About

The Global Undergraduate Awards (GUA) is the world's leading undergraduate awards programme. It recognises top undergraduate coursework, shares that work with a global audience, and connects students to an international network of high achievers. Students submit a piece of academic coursework — an essay, dissertation chapter, research paper or project — that has already been graded by their institution. Submissions are judged blind by academics across 25 subject categories spanning the humanities, sciences, social sciences, business and the arts. Winners are named Global Winners in their category and Highly Commended Entrants are recognised regionally. Global Winners are invited to the annual Global Summit. The 2026 cycle closed on 13 June 2026 after a deadline extension. The 2027 cycle typically opens in the spring — check the site for the exact opening date.

Eligibility

Open to undergraduate students in their final years of study, and to recent graduates who graduated within the last two years. Submissions must be coursework completed as part of your undergraduate degree and already assessed by your institution. Papers are typically limited to around 5,000 words, and must be written in English. Open to students at any university worldwide.

Benefits

Global Winner and Highly Commended recognition in one of 25 academic categories. An invitation to the Global Summit, an international gathering of award winners. Publication of your paper in the GUA online library. A globally recognised credential for graduate school and job applications.
