Google Developer Groups Solution Challenge 2026 — Build with AI

Google Developer Groups (GDG)

Deadline · 30 Sept 2026Globalhack2skill.com

Summary

A global hackathon for university students building AI-powered solutions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals with Google technology.

About

The Solution Challenge is a global hackathon for university student developers, organised by Google Developer Groups (GDG) on Campus. The 2026 edition is themed "Build with AI". Teams identify a problem aligned to one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, then build and ship a working solution using Google technologies — Gemini, Vertex AI, Google Cloud, Firebase, Flutter and Android. Participation includes hands-on workshops, mentorship from Google Developer Experts, and access to technical resources. Submissions are judged on impact, technical implementation, use of Google technology and the quality of the demo. Top teams progress to a global shortlist, with the strongest projects showcased by Google and their founders supported through follow-on programmes.

Eligibility

Open to university students aged 18 and over enrolled in a higher education institution. Teams of 1–4 students; members may be from different universities. At least one team member should be affiliated with a GDG on Campus chapter where required by the local track. Projects must be built during the challenge period using Google technologies.

Benefits

Mentorship from Google Developer Experts and GDG organisers. Hands-on experience with Gemini, Vertex AI, Google Cloud, Flutter and Firebase. Cash prizes, Google swag and cloud credits for winning teams. Global showcase of top projects by Google, plus certificates for all valid submissions.
