About the Role
The Group Chief Accountant’s Department (GCAD) is part of Unilever’s Controller’s organization and is responsible for external financial reporting, global financial controls (including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance), management of the Group audit relationship, and the development and implementation of Unilever’s accounting policies. GCAD also plays a key role in a range of strategic initiatives that support how Unilever measures, reports, and communicates its financial performance to external stakeholders.
The Assistant Finance Manager – Group Balance Sheet Reporting reports to the Senior Finance Manager – Global Group Accounting and is responsible for supporting the preparation and review of Unilever’s Balance Sheet. The role involves analysing Balance sheet and major movements across balance sheet items, supporting external reporting and control activities, partnering with markets and key stakeholders to resolve reporting queries, and driving continuous improvements in Balance sheet reporting processes, governance, and automation. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in Group reporting, technical accounting, and financial controls while working with stakeholders across Treasury, Investor Relations, Business Finance, and external auditors.

Responsibilities
• Support the preparation and review of the Group Balance sheet, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with applicable IFRS and Group reporting requirements.
• Analyse Balance sheet items and key variances, providing clear insights for decision-making.
• Act as a key contact for markets and operating centres on balance Sheet reporting matters, resolving accounting and reporting queries and providing practical guidance.
• Support the preparation of balance sheet disclosures, commentary, and supporting schedules for quarterly results, press releases, and the Annual Report & Accounts.
• Perform and document key reporting controls, ensuring compliance with SOX, Group control requirements, and external reporting standards.
• Support internal and external audits by coordinating responses to audit queries and maintaining robust documentation for Balance Sheet reporting processes.
• Assist in delivering training and guidance to stakeholders on Balance sheet reporting requirements, working capital reporting, and accounting policies.
• Contribute to the implementation of new reporting requirements, system enhancements, and reporting process improvements across the Group.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, data quality, reporting efficiency, and standardization.
• Work closely with Reporting and accounting manager – Consolidation on preparation and review of Statement of changes in Equity (SOCIE) schedules and perform associated controls.
• Participate in GCAD projects and transformation initiatives, supporting the delivery of strategic and operational objectives.
• Support on ad hoc financial analysis and queries.
